Ronald was born on October 25th, 1915.1  Ronald's father was James George Drinkwater and his mother was Eliza  Jane Goodier.  His paternal grandparents were William Drinkwater and Elizabeth Willett; his maternal grandparents were James Goodier and Mary Goodier. He had six brothers and two sisters, named William, James, John, Arnold, Donald, Harold, Clara and Ruth.  He was the fourth youngest of the nine children.
