Joseph was born in 1908 in Knutsford.  Joseph's father was Joseph Edwin Drinkwater and his mother was Harriet Roden.  His paternal grandparents were William Drinkwater and Elizabeth Willett. He had a sister named Annie.  He was the younger of the two children.  He died at the age of 75 on October 21st, 1983 in Warrington.
